Materials
Sterling Silver
Our jewellery is made of 925 sterling silver.
Gold Plating
Some of our jewellery is plated with a thin layer of gold. We use 0.03-micron gold plating, which ensures a beautiful appearance while keeping an excellent price.
Please keep in mind that 0.03-micron gold-plated jewellery is not suitable for swimming or showering, as the layer can wear off quickly.
Gold Vermeil
We also use gold vermeil. This means that a jewellery item made of 925 sterling silver is covered with a thick layer of gold. We use 2.5-micron gold plating, which is the recommended thickness for high-quality jewellery.
Please note that not all Simbollist jewellery is gold vermeil. Check the description of each individual piece.
The gold plating we use is either yellow gold or rose gold:
Yellow Gold
Our jewellery is usually plated with 18 k (carat) yellow gold. 18 k (carat) yellow gold contains 75% pure gold mixed with 25% of other metals such as copper, silver, and other alloys. Pure gold is too soft to be used alone and is therefore always combined with other materials to create a durable final product.
Rose Gold
Rose gold does not exist in nature in its pure form. It is man-made by combining classic yellow gold with copper and silver.
There are several shades of rose gold, from light pink to reddish-brown. The more copper in the mixture, the redder the metal will be. Our jewellery is usually plated with 9 k or 18 k rose gold.

Why Gold Vermeil?
Vermeil jewellery is an ideal solution if you want high-quality, gold-like jewellery at a reasonable price.
A disadvantage of gold vermeil is that the gold layer can wear off over time or lose its original beauty and shine, especially if is not properly cared for.
We recommend always taking good care of your vermeil jewellery and not wearing it when in contact with water or other liquids, when applying lotions or other cosmetics, or during sports or heavy work, as it can damage the gold layer.
